Egypt - p.6 - Cruising to Kom Ombo




Mud-brick homes and a small kiln.

Temple of Kom Ombo, dedicated to Horus on one side and Sobek (crocodile-headed god) on the other side.


Mummies of over 300 crocodiles were found inside this temple.


Baby crocodiles were kept in a pool beside the temple
.


This symbol meant "No commoners beyond this point.  Royalty only."

This temple was extensively recycled, i.e., the stones were taken for use in other projects.
That's why the columns are sliced off at the tops ...


... and why this wall has a zig-zag slice through it.
