Egypt - page 2 - Pyramids

On our way to see the pyramids
!

Russ got a horsecart to save his back....

while Gaetan and I got camels.   Gaetan's camel lowered his neck so the camel boy could climb up.
Notice how small the Sphinx is compared to the pyramids!

Getting closer...

So you think the moon landing is a hoax?  Well, I've got news for you...

Russ gave the camel a try.

The camels are real camera hams ...

Smile!

In the 1900's, people were allowed to climb the pyramids, but too many rocks - and tourists - tumbled,
so now we stay at the base.

Camels posing for the camera.

I think the camels are talking about us. ..

Then we visited the oldest pyramid at Saqqara, 4600 years old and under restoration. Egypt has so many
antiquities that if every person in Egypt worked full time on their preservation, I bet they'd still fall short!

Here is a strange creature that we saw carved on one of the walls -
it appears to have a beaver tail and a squid mouth.

Next - Luxor.  The plane flew over fascinating scenery, showing canyons and the remnants of ancient water flows.

Huge sand dunes try to cover the canyons.

The only green is near the Nile.
